Exploring ways to deepen my library practice, this blog is one of many paths. "Caminante, no hay camino, se hace camino al andar" (Traveler, there is no path; you make the path by walking) - Antonio Machado, Spanish poet, 1875-1939.

This is going to be tough. I talked to our literacy coach about it, and she says that the key thing is finding summaries that use nonfiction summary structure: complex sentences, key words, short and packed with key ideas. She suggested encyclopedia entries, book reviews, etc.
So far my best resource for this is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander and Quidditch Through the Ages by Kenilworthy Whisp
(these are Harry Potter companion books, shelved next to Rowling in our library: although not actually factual, the complex sentence structure and language of the summaries are EXACTLY what the prompt calls for.)
